MotorCity Online racing game memories

(fixing & reposting from my Steem posts)

“Motor City Online was a racing massively multiplayer online video game released by Electronic Arts on October 29, 2001. The point of the game was to buy classic cars (mostly American muscle cars) ranging from 1930s to 1970s models, tune them up, and race them against other players. The game went offline on August 29, 2003 so EA Games could focus on their current online game at the time …” – thanks Wikipedia –

Yeah, it was a great racing game and I don’t know how long I was actually in it because I can’t remember when I bought the game cd and when I started paying the $10 per month to be in it. Yes I did pay that much to play an online racing game back in 2003, and I was there the day they shut it down. I’m lucky I got a bunch of screenshots of cars I had. Which I was looking at again the other day and using some of the pictures in that ActiveWorlds thing I’ve mentioned before. The worlds have picture objects that you can put anywhere and put a url into the action part of the picture object properties. See my blog about ActiveWorlds at

Anyway, back to the Motor City cars. There were apparently 79 car variations or more, I tried to compile a list but some I never saw in the game when I played and some I’m sure I didn’t find the Year/Make/Model of. Variations for example on the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro they had the regular, the RS the SS and the Z28, so counting each those are four of the 79 car types. Then there were some regular hard top, chop top and convertible but not each variation had chop top or convertible. Oh and the special ’66 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C was only convertible.

There were also a bunch of different special paint jobs for the different cars. Some cost a ton of money (in game money that you win from races) and the normal colors cost a lot less. They had a marketplace system where people could buy cars from a “car dealer” or other players, put any of the cars they owned up for sale, I can’t remember for sure but I think some were auctioned but there were some set prices. Basically the players set the prices/values and if you didn’t have enough cash from racing you couldn’t get the cars that were “rare”.

I was able to win, buy and sell enough to end up with 74 cars on the mid-town server, 77 on the uptown server & over 100 on the crossroads server [players were allowed to be on three servers with one account].

I have some pictures posted in some old pages I made at My MCO Pages if anyone wants to check the pictures out. Keep in mind that these are old pages from 2003 or so and I found I moved some pictures and I have to fix the file names because they are not the same but I have most of that done.

A Free PDF About Website and Business Help

I’m not sure if anybody will read this but I’m going to post it here anyway.

I have a free PDF file with some helpful hints about website stuff.

1. Advertise your web site with banner ads that are
animated and include a call to action. You must grab
people’s attention and get them to click. For
example, you could have flashing lights like they use
in Las Vegas. Another example, you could use
“Click Here Now” or “Click Here To Visit”.

There are 30 items discussed in the PDF file. You may use it, give it away for free if you do not modify or change anything.

The PDF file can be viewed and downloaded HERE

Started Digital Store and List(s) section

After getting this blog set I did install the Abante Cart at and got a couple digital download items in to see how to do that. I also got a section called List started at and added a form builder and one signup form at Signup_2020

If you would like to be kept up to date with things I am adding to the digital products section, then you will need to “sign up” on that form I made.

I will be working on all the sections as I have time but I am also working on other things including trying to get my moms stuff sorted and rearranged so the house she rents can be fumigated. We have to be out of the house for about 3 days and I was told not to take my laptop out. I’m not sure what I’m going to do besides watch TV but I guess I’ll find out.

Starting this on Nov. 4, 2019

I am just starting to get this blog up and running on Nov. 4th 2019 and it may take some time to get things added. I have to add pages of info and adjust all the settings so you may have to come back once in awhile to see the changes.
